During World War One the Fort on Chausey’s Grand Ile was used to house Austro - German civil internees, and it could be that the authorities needed a vessel of this size to service the Island.  

In 1921 she became CELUTA for service to Jersey, and later ENEZ EUSSA supply ship for Ushent
